How did I not realise my tribe was staring me in the face, the whole time. My first blog post was for an assignment for my ‘Brands and Consumers’ module, where I had to discuss each stage of the buyer behaviour process. I really enjoyed writing my little diary with all my thoughts and musings, I wrote like nobody was looking and poured my thoughts into each post, this gave me the taste for blogging.
I started on blogger which I really enjoyed, then made the migration to self hosted wordpress, I lost all my followers along the way and didn’t have a clue what I was doing, still don’t, which caused me to totally lose my blogging mojo. I have done lots of work for whatsgoodtodo.com and more recently some self sourced reviews, which I really enjoy, but I still couldn’t find my mojo.
Looking at other blog posts I realised I needed to find my tribe, but after a few weeks of searching I began to think I didn’t belong to any tribe, I joined some mummy blogger sites, as a gran I am still a mum, I also interacted with academics as it was through academia my blog began, but despite my obsession with marketing and customer services, I still didn’t feel this was my tribe, so I gave up searching and decided to be a lone wolf. Despite being resigned to my new lone wolf status, I decided to start a linky, where each week through the summer, bloggers could post about places they had visited.
- I felt the posts shown would be helpful to people visiting the areas included.
- My marketing brain needed a little flexing.
- It would be good for stats.
- Pitching combined figures would be encouragement for companies to choose the Linky members for reviews.
Today I decided to do some work on the Linky ready for Monday and tweeted the interested parties beautyandallthebeasts who I hae linked with before and we always bump along nicely, becster.com another Welshie, .jessicainyourear.com who shares my passion for marketing, then last but certainly not least janesworld.co, The second I looked at Jane’s page I realised my tribe had been obvious the entire time, Jane is a Disney Parks Moms Panellist which is my absolute dream.
I have a very obsessive personality, which is why I found it so difficult to find my tribe, and caused me to pick the name rantinggran, I get totally obsessed with something, rant or blog about it then get bored and move on, my only obsession that never wanes is my total obsession with all things Disney, anyone who knows me knows just how obsessed I am, and everyone who knows me turns to me when they need Disney advice. Any assignment in uni about customer service became dominated by Disney. Its now so obvious who my tribe is the company I compare all companies against, the reason I am often not satisfied with other brands in the hospitality industry, my beloved Disney.
In true obsessive me style I am about to change my blog name to reflect my love for Disney and connect with like minded divas and devos and I am going to focus all my attention on becoming a panellist, hopefully in 2017 but definitely some time in the near future.
Lookout for some serious Disney over indulgence 🙂
