Remembering-the-beautiful-brave-lili J, part 3 looks at the next phase of fundraising, there had been lots of fundraising in the area and people were fed up with the same thing over and over, so I needed to think of something a little different, so we decided on a sky dive with skydiveswansea.
There we so many people wanted to dive, but a few dropped out due to medical certs and over the weight limit, luckily I was over the weight limit, really not fond of heights.
The divers had best practice for gaining sponsors drilled into them, 2 boys who lived nearly 100 from the skydive centre, who had been involved in my cake pop effort, did the dive and got lots of sponsors. We got T shirts printed with sponsors details on, a few businesses were very kind. Our main sponsors were Trade Centre Wales first call travel and gforce groundworks. We created a facebook events page which helped spread the word.
I bought some buckets off eBay and made some labels with the same theme as the power point presentation I told you about in part 2 who could resist this luscious little Miss.
We did a raffle to run along side everything else and be drawn on the day, as always Mototpoint Arena Cardiff donated tickets and we had a signed Cardiff City football and a signed Wayne Rooney shirt, plus lots of smaller prizes.
In the weeks running up to the skydive Lili wasnt very well at all, the poor little lamb was spending increasingly more time in hospital. Then the dive was cancelled due to predicted high winds so everyone was a little deflated, I had contacted Taybarns Swansea to pitch a little idea to them, which they were happy to help with. As a thank you to the divers, they would all eat free at the restaurant after the dive. We were delighted on the new day of the dive the weather was fab and most importantly Lili was well enough to attend.
The day went brilliantly and lots of people travelled down to watch the divers. But most importantly Lili was there too.
It was brilliant watching the divers in the air and coming in to land, and seeing the little ones looking up to the sky for their parents.
We all went back to Taybarns for food, did the raffle and Lili’s Mam and Dad gave em beautiful flowers and a card off the little doll Lili.
A few weeks later I was delighted to be tagged in this video, I have no words to explain how good it was to see Lili chilling in her room, with her parents and sister x
Part 4 will be some time in the future 🙁
